Acceptance of manuscripts is based on the originality or importance of the observations and investigations, the quality of the work and validity of the evidence, the clarity of presentation, and the relevance to our readership and field. All articles are expected to be concise, well organized, and clearly written. Authors submit a manuscript with the understanding that the manuscript (or its essential substance) has not been published other than as an abstract in any language or format and is not currently submitted elsewhere for print or electronic publication.

The Blood Journals Portfolio peer review process is single-anonymized, where reviewers remain unknown to the authors, whereas authors are known to the reviewers. Reviewers are permitted to interact with the editors during the process. No review information is published with the article. The terminology we have adopted to describe our peer review process is based on the ANSI/NISO Standard Terminology for Peer Review.
Manuscripts that have passed initial screening by the Editors are reviewed by at least 2 (typically 3) external experts in the field. The Editors select reviewers and make the final decision on the manuscript. Every manuscript is treated by the Editors and reviewers as privileged information, and they are instructed to exclude themselves from review of any manuscript that may involve a conflict of interest or the appearance of such.
关于人工智能(AI)工具的使用
Uploading any material under review to an open AI tool is prohibited. A submitted manuscript is provided to the publisher on a confidential basis and is treated as such. Uploading material under review to an AI system risk breaching that confidentiality. Peer reviewers should not use AI tools to write their report of the article outside of spell check and grammatical assistance and may only do so using a closed proprietary AI system for their peer review report and not feeding the submitted manuscript or any portions thereof into the system to ensure confidentiality is maintained.
